If you could speak about one subject that you are passionate about what would it be?
Every month, three guest speakers talk on a topic close to their heart. It could be on the arts, science or nature; about an abstract concept or a physical object of desire; a moment in history or perhaps a tiny fragment of their life. You never know what you will get, but we promise you will go away with food for thought!
We don’t advertise the subjects of the talks beforehand, but in last few months we had talks on life of Ernest Shackleton, the fascinating secret underground modern day temple of Damanhur under the Italian mountains, and about London’s disused tube stations; we heard about Dick living on a barge, how Sarah Louise taught a town to play the ukulele, of how James Cagney influenced Thomas when he was growing up, about Joe Bunn’s obsession with newsagents, as well as a talk from naturists (in the buff), and host Pete extolling the virtues of being a failure….
Last month Kate & Kate told us about how they had set up Coffin Club UK for people to talk about funerals in a new and empowering way, George talked zeros and ones as he told us about Network Packet Analysis, whilst Neil Hulme told us all about the fascinating world of butterflies attacking mallards in the Sussex countryside.
Tickets are £2 for members / £4 non-members in advance from
Or on the door at £3/£5 (though please note last month’s night sold out in advance)
Doors are at 7.30, with proceedings starting at 8.15pm.
