Long before Cab Calloway told us in 1931 that Minnie the Moocher loved a bloke named Smokey, even though he was cokey, drugs and sex were staples of popular music, much as they’re staples of human existence. Ignoring the idiocy of Judeo-Christian guilt, Harry Anslinger, Richard Nixon and Margaret Thatcher, we keep coming back to ’em – and here at the Cellar we approve of personal freedom (although, clearly, do not condone the use of illicit substances). So come and enjoy music specifically about sex’n’drugs from multiple decades, a lot of which you’ll want to dance to. Caspar Gomez can promise a set that will add rock’n’roll to that cocktail.
